Get the kids hooked on fishing at the 30th Annual Spring Fishing Derby and Casting Contest.
Thanks to the El Dorado County Fish & Game Commission, Lumsden Pond will be full of rainbow trout just in time for the festivities. The Fishing Derby takes place at Lumsden Park on Saturday, April 8th. Toddlers through second graders fish from 9:00 am - 11:00 am. Third through eighth grade participants fish from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Awards for the longest fish are given each age group. Just bring your own pole and some bait. Fishing licenses are not required for children participating in the Fishing Derby.
There will be a Casting Contest sponsored by the Placerville Lions Club. The Placerville Kiwanis Club will supply each child with a free hot dog and soft drink.
The entire event is free and no advance registration is required. Rain or shine, go fishing. For more information about the Spring Fishing Derby and Casting Contest, please visit our website at www.cityofplacerville.org or call the Placerville Recreation Department at 530-642-5232
