CIP Update - February 2016

Central Main Street Rehabilitation Project

This project will repave Main Street from Sacramento Street to Bedford Avenue, including Center Street and Stagecoach Alley. In addition, bulb-outs will be constructed at two mid-block crossings (at River City Bank and at Centro coffee), and at the intersection of Center Street and Stagecoach Alley to enhance safety. The condition of the water and sewer mains will be assessed and replaced or rehabilitated as needed. The project will be designed and constructed through coordination with the Placerville Downtown Association and consistent with the adopted Main Street Streetscape Design Development Plan , adopted by the City Council on January 10, 2006. The project will not incorporate all elements of the plan at this time (for example, the plan shows relocating the bell tower which will not be done with this project).

The City has contracted with R.E.Y. Engineers for engineering design services (see June 10, 2014 City Council meeting ). In the near future, a topographic survey will be performed and pipeline condition assessments made of the water main, sewer main and storm drain pipes. Expect a day or two of traffic control while investigative digging and pavement coring is performed.

Please contact the Engineering Division with any questions or concerns about this project.
