Notice of Filing Period

NOTE: THE FILING PERIOD IS NOW CLOSED

The City of Placerville, in consolidation with El Dorado County Elections Department, will be conducting an election on November 8, 2016 for the following positions:

                Two (2) City Councilmembers

                One (1) City Treasurer

The filing period opens on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. and closes on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 3:00 p.m.; however, if an incumbent fails to file his or her nomination papers by August 12, 2016, the filing period will be extended for five (5) days, ending Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.

All interested persons must be a registered voter of the City of Placerville at the time nomination papers are issued.  Potential candidates will be required to file Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) forms disclosing economic interests held in the City, as well as information about any campaign contributions received.

The City of Placerville does not have a filing fee.  However, there is a charge for candidates who wish to file and print a Candidate Statement in the sample ballot.  The fee is determined by the El Dorado County Registrar of Voters and is currently $290 in English only and an additional $386 in Spanish (Spanish is optional).

Nomination papers can be obtained at the City Clerk’s Office located at 3101 Center Street, Placerville, California.  Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

REMINDER:  IF YOU HAVE MOVED SINCE THE LAST ELECTION, YOU MUST RE-REGISTER AT YOUR NEW ADDRESS. VOTER REGISTRATION CARDS ARE AVAILABLE AT PLACERVILLE CITY HALL IN THE ADMINISTRATION DEPARTMENT, 4 TH FLOOR OR CAN BE COMPLETED ONLINE AT www.co.el-dorado.ca.us/elections .
