Recreation and Parks

The City’s Recreation & Parks Department operates out of the Town Hall Building at 549 Main Street. The department’s responsibilities include: - Planning and carrying out recreational opportunities for all segments of the community;
- Maintenance, operation and development of parkland and open space;
- Maintenance of City facilities.
These functions are delivered with a staff of 11 permanent employees. The department also relies heavily upon community resources to meet its responsibilities. Hundreds of volunteers and part-time employees are annually enlisted to deliver the vast services of the department. A description of all programs and services are delivered to the community through a community-wide brochure and on the Recreation and Parks web site four (4) times annually.
The Recreation & Parks Department is truly community service orientated, and its programs and services are directed by the needs of the community. The department receives guidance from the Recreation & Parks Commission, a commission linking the community to department needs and issues.
