Mark Acuna was elected to the City Council in 2004, and served as Vice-Mayor in 2006 and as Mayor in 2007. Prior to his current four-year term of office, he previously served one year on the Council in 2002 to fill a vacancy. Mark spent over 9 years as a member of the Placerville Planning Commission. He currently represents the City on the El Dorado County Transportation Commission, serving as Chairman in 2007. Mark also represents the Council on the Gold Bug Park Advisory Committee. Mark moved to El Dorado County in 1975 and has been employed by PG&E since 1978. He has held a variety of positions and now works as a Senior Estimating Engineer at the Placerville Service Center. Mark and wife Kandee, have no children but do share their home with a cat and aMolluccan cockatoo. He and Kandee enjoy collecting antiques and exploring small towns in California. Mark is an avid gardener, a member of the Sacramento Zoological Society and a long time member of Sierra Wildlife Rescue.
