“Dedicated to Improving the Grace and Charm of Placerville”

City Gardens * Work Projects * Public Art

RECRUITMENT - The Community Pride Committee meets on the third Monday of each month at Town Hall. Meetings begin at 4:30 p.m. and the public is welcome to attend. Much of our success is the result of the numerous volunteers who assist with our City projects. Volunteers countywide are always welcome to participate. If you would enjoy contributing to enhancing the charm of Placerville by applying your talents in gardening, creek restoration, public art -- or in fundraising to support public gardens, creek and art projects -- consider joining us. You’ll be rewarded by the opportunity to work with a fun and accomplished group of people, as we embark on exciting new beautification projects while managing the challenge of maintaining our existing gardens.

Our GARDENS & PROJECTS Committee designed and nurtures 20 public gardens along Main Street from Placerville Drive to Broadway. Our “Gateway to the Sierra” mountain theme garden is part of our two mile adopt-a-highway section of US 50.
We installed flower gardens and shade trees at the Fox Parking Lot. We conduct volunteer work days at our Hangtown Creek Restoration Project along the El Dorado Trail. We co-authored the draft Hangtown Creek Master Plan. We publish an “Inventory of Public Spaces” which documents our garden projects and includes our plant palette of plants that thrive in Placerville, and “Village of Gold” walking tour that highlights our garden projects and historic points of interest.

Our PUBLIC ART Committee commissioned a mural at Main Street and Hwy 49 depicting local folk hero and mail carrier Snowshoe Thompson.

Our AWARDS Committee showcases business landscaping efforts in the City of Placerville. Do you know of an exceptional landscape in the Placerville area? Please contact us.
